Original French Pre-Revolutionary High Quality 16 bore Flintlock Double Barrel Shotgun by Alary of Grenoble Original Items

Original Item: Only One Available. This is a very nice high quality French 16 bore double barrel flintlock shotgun, marked on the locks by maker ALARY of GRENOBLE. We were not able to find much on this maker from the southeast of France, but other examples we have seen indicate manufacture during the 1750-1770 period. This definitely puts this before French Revolution, and as with all firearms from the period, it was lucky to survive that tumultuous time.

The shot gun is made very much in the Parisian style, with all iron mounts. The back of the wrist has a blank silver escutcheon surrounded by silver wire inlay. The gun has an overall length of 54 inches, with double part octagonal 38″ inch barrels.

Overall condition is very good, especially considering its 250+ years of existence. There are repaired cracks in the stock, and the original checkering is now quite worn on both the wrist and fore stock. The iron metalwork has an overall dark patina, which goes perfectly with the worn stock. The locks both require adjustment, as they are functional but will both fire at half cock. This most likely is the result of a worn tumbler. The included ramrod is a stained dowel for display only.

Most attractive and very hard to find in its original flintlock configuration. Ready to display!
