Original Item: Only One Available. We just received this Antique Converted musket, along with about 200 other guns, from a collection that sat in an attic for close to 100 years. This started life as a French, possibly 1st Empire Napoleonic flintlock musket that was converted to percussion. However, it still retaining its ORIGINAL flintlock hammer, modified by having a percussion “nose” welded between the flintlock’s hammer jaws. It was then further modified by having its barrel shortened to a carbine length of 25″ and its fore end cut to half stock, presumably for post Civil War frontier use. There is no way to tell whether it was modified once or twice.
In very well used condition, its butt plate has been replaced with a leather butt pad when it was shortened from the rear. The current overall length is 40 inches, with a 25 inch barrel. Only retaining one iron barrel band and iron ram rod.
An antique weapon that started life in France circa 1800 and was still in use probably until the 1870’s. Ready to display!
