DVD: (Made in 1958) The winter of 1942/43, despite heavy losses, AH?s Wehrmacht troops have conquered Stalingrad. While many of the ordinary soldiers realize that the war is senseless and that there can never be a final victory, the officers try to encourage their men to carry on. Still there is a young lieutenant who increasingly distrusts the NSDAP ideology. Over and above the great battle scenes, this is the story of a man struggling with the very concept of war. This is the film that the modern Stalingrad was based upon and features period equipment and original footage. A not-to-be-missed film!
I.M.A carries much of the equipment seen in this film: not the film’s props, but the actual equipment used by the soldiers depicted in the film!
