Original Item: Only One Available. This Pistol is somewhat unusual, we expect it to be the French Model of 1822 in Flintlock later converted to the percussion cap ignition system. The barrel however is stamped on the top with the date 1819 which might indicate it was from an even earlier French military pistol. The brass mounts still carry all the expected French Army inspection markings.
The converted lock has been completely cleansed of any French Arsenal markings which rather suggests that in the 1840’s it was destined for “overseas sale” perhaps even to one of the U.S. States. Has the typical “cup top” cleaning rod still intact, though we are uncertain as to why they were shaped this way.
Overall it is in really very good presentable condition and is ready to display
