Original Item: Only One Available. This is a very nice example of a mid 19th Century French Continental style percussion pistol, most likely made in Liège, Belgium. The pistol features a 5 1/2inch octagonal barrel, which has had texture added to the outside to give the look of “Damascus” steel. Close examination shows that it is just a simple pattern repeated over and over. The left side of the barrel is marked with the E / L G / * in an oval proof mark of Liège, Belgium.
It has fine walnut wood stock which has a French style “Fluted” grip with a butt cap. It is equipped with mostly nickel silver mounts, though the ramrod pipe and trigger guard are steel. All of the fittings are nicely engraved, giving the pistol a great look. It has a nice .53″ caliber octagonal barrel, a very popular style at the time. We checked out the lock, and it functions correctly, holding at half cock and firing at full. The original ramrod is unfortunately missing.
A very nice mid 19th century French style pistol made in Belgium, ready to display!
