Original Item: Only One Available: Here we have a very nice example of a Finnish Model 1927 Bayonet & Scabbard, which were used with the Finnish M/27 Mosin-Nagant rifle. This was the primary service rifle of Finland during the WWII period, and was the main rifle used during both the first “Winter War” and the later “Continuation War”.
Like most that we have seen, it was made by HACKMAN & CO in Finland. Hackman was a cutlery and cookware company founded in Finland in 1790. The Hackman brand is now owned by Iittala Group, which was acquired by Fiskars Corporation in 2007. The bayonet is a standard bladed bayonet, with a slightly curved crossguard, which attaches under the barrel with a muzzle loop and mortise slot with a lock.
The blade is in very good condition, though it does show sharpening and cleaning, as well as some past pitting. The crossguard also has some past pitting as well, but the rest of the hilt is in good shape. The grip scales are in good shape, with hollow core rivets, so they may have been arsenal replaced at some point. The scabbard is in very good shape, with minor dents and some finish wear. It is “fluted” in construction, which has made it a bit more sturdy, but also would have increased production time.
A very nice example, perfect to go with your WWII Finnish M/27 Mosin-Nagant rifle!
