Original Item. Only One Available. This is an extremely scarce bayonet produced for the Finnish Army and Civil Guard. According to Kiesling, the Civil Guard ordered 10,000 bayonets in 1941, most were scrapped in the 1970’s. This example comes with its SK.Y marked green leather scabbard of riveted and sewn construction.
The blade is clean, showing typical service use with a few very shallow nicks in the edge towards the base. The ricasso is stamped SK.Y on one side and O.Y. VELJEKSET KULMALAAB on the other. The one piece grips show typical age and wear with much of the original varnish finish remaining. There is a good amount of verdigris on the metal fittings of the scabbard which has spread a bit onto the bayonet itself. The scabbard still retains its lower metal plate and belt loop. This scabbard design is interesting in how the leather securing strap wraps around the crossguard.
This is an extremely scarce bayonet that almost never comes up for sale, ready for further research and display.
