Original Items: Only One Pair Available. This is an excellent condition pair of German World War Two Luftwaffe Pilot’s Flying Gloves, which do not appear to have been used for any substantial amount of time. The gloves feature dark blue suede leather exteriors, with natural leather interiors on the wrist guards, and blue wool interiors on the “glove” portion of the gauntlet style gloves. Electrical elements are enclosed in the glove with the standard Luftwaffe “male” press-stud connectors at the sleeve end of the gloves. These would snap onto the matching “female” connectors on the flying suit or trousers.
The individual fingers and high quality construction definitely indicates these are for a pilot, who would need to have much finer control when operating the many switches and other items in the cockpit.
The gloves have all of the maker and inspection markings on the inside of the wrist covers, and indicate that they have 8 Watt / 24 Volt heating elements installed. We were not able to identify all of these, but both have relatively clear matching National Business Numbers (RBNr.) and Patent markings, which look to also contain the size of 8:
RBNr. 0/344/0073
DRP-Nr. 729 427
8
0543
Both also have an inspection stamp reading Geprüft A. Bulling (Checked by A. Bulling).
Overall condition is close to unissued, with just a bit of wear on the interior. The elastic in the wrist areas is still functional, and there is just a bit of wear and oxidation on the electrical contacts. This is the first pair of these gloves that we have had, and they would be very hard to improve upon.
Perfect to complement any heated flight suit, or a great piece on their own. Ready to display!
