Original Item: One-of-a-kind. This is an extraordinary original signed Italian flintlock pistol signed A.BINI of Bresia, Italy who worked most of the 18th century both father and son from 1730 to 1790.

Featuring high quality carved steel mounts fully scalloped with a 12.5 barrel incorporating the A. BINI makers mark and galloping horse surrounded by twelve carved Fleur-de-lis stamps. The sculptured lock plate is also nicely marked A.BINI .

The pistol is pre-1750 and therefore originates from the earlier period of the family’s production. In the early 1800s this pistol fell into the hands of the Ottomans who ruled Turkey and much of the Middle East at the time. The ramrod pipes were removed and the fore end of the pistol was completely covered in highly embossed sheet silver. The grip also was sheathed in similarly embossed sheet silver and the body of the grip bound in plaited silver wire. This is just spectacular!

A quality early 18th century Italian flintlock pistol signed by a well known Italian maker then transformed by the Ottoman Turks not to be confused with all Turkish made “copies” of European flintlock pistols typically encountered. Extremely rare and worthy of any flintlock pistol collection.
