Original Item: One Only. A kindjal (translated from the Russian Кинжал) is a double-edged dagger often with a single off-set groove on each face of the blade. The shape of the weapon is similar to the ancient Greek Xiphos, the Roman Gladius, or the Scottish dirk; and has been used as a secondary weapon in Georgia and the Caucasus since ancient times.

This example is old, and not for decoration but for use in battle, and has a fantastic patina overall. It is 17″ in overall length with a 12 1/2″ single fuller blade deeply stamped on each side with an Armorer’s mark. Very old gently worn Walrus ivory grip plates secured by huge silver rivets made from , almost certainly, Persian silver coins covered in Islamic script.

This fine old dagger comes complete in its original silver mounted wood scabbard covered in a black fabric material. Very possibly brought home by an English Trooper after the Crimean War of 1853-1855 where the British came face to face with the Russian Cossacks.This is worth having! Ready to Display.

Note:- The sides of the scabbard body are somewhat split open, so care should be taken when withdrawing the blade from the scabbard.
