Original Item: Only One Set Available. Contained in an early studded-top Military Transit Chest we have a complete uniform set of a British Officer who saw service in both WW1 and WW2. Major R.J. Walker of the Royal Engineers, promoted from 2nd Lieutenant to Acting Captain on July 1st 1917 in World War One then further raised to Major on August 30th, 1940, during Britain’s darkest hour of World War Two. Each piece is in very good to excellent condition showing minor to no damage or moth.
Major Walkers Uniform Set is comprised of the following:
Scarlet melton cloth Victorian style Parade Tunic, with all buttons and gold “gimp” braiding intact, still bearing Captain’s Pips, together with his tapered navy coveralls (Pants) with broad red strip indicating a “Royal Regiment”.
Scarlet melton cloth Evening Dress Jacket with gilt “Ubique” Grenade badges to the lapels made by J. Daniels & Co. Ltd., of 62 Pall Mall, (London) dated 1929. These were worn with the Parade Coveralls described above.
Early Blue interwar Tunic Jacket complete with Regimental buttons with makers tag by J.G. Plumb & Co., 117 Victoria Street, Westminster (Captain’s Rank insignia removed).
Finally Major Walker’s WW2 Service Uniform of Khaki Tunic and Trousers complete with all buttons, Major’s Crown insignia, badges and medal ribbons made by Wm. Anderson & Sons Ltd., of Edinburgh, named and dated 1944. Along with original Sam Browne pattern belt and cross strap and correct issue Khaki wool side cap.
In all a fine Set of 4 Uniforms all in excellent condition and from the same officer spanning a Military Career of almost 30 years including both World Wars, all contained in their original Steel Transit/Storage Chest. There is a mass of research potential here concerning a known Officer from the famous “Royal Engineers”. A set that has lain undisturbed in storage for over sixty years!
