Original Item: Only One Available. A fine nickel-plated brass single draw telescope with leather sleeve casing manufactured by a well known WW2 Maker: W. OTTWAY & Co. Ltd.,
of EALING, LONDON and bearing serial number 1475.
Measures 24 inches when fully extended. This telescope is fitted with a nice sliding sun shade to front and the optics barrel bears the marking of the naval officer F.I. RONALDSON.
Not much is known of this officer except that on April 16th 1947 he was confirmed as a full Submarine Lieutenant from being an “acting” Submarine Lieutenant by King George VI as this was reported in the LONDON GAZETTE in November 1948.
A high quality Telescope very likely to have seen service during WW2 perhaps even during the Battle of the Atlantic against all AH’s U-Boats offering masses of research potential.
