Original Item: Only One Available. This is a fantastic find! We have never had one of these large British Medic’s Water Bottle Canteens before! The inner body looks to be soldered tin or aluminum, and measures about 7″H x 6 3/4″W x 3 1/8″, which we believe gives a capacity of above 2 liters. The mouth of the canteen is quite wide, and plugged with a sizable cork.
The bottom of the canteen body is marked:
D. ASSERSOHN LTD
(Broad Arrow)
1940
The included small canteen cup looks to be zinc or tin plated copper, and is also maker marked and dated:
THE ROSEBERY METALWORKS CO.
(Broad Arrow)
1940
The canteen comes complete with it’s original wool cover and leather carrier, which are not marked, however the cover does have a large white “Broad Arrow” on the bottom. These canteens were larger as they were used by combat medics, who might need to tend to multiple soldiers, so a lot of water was necessary.
Combat medic material is always desirable on the market. A very nice and rare example, ready to display!
