Original Item: One Pair Only. These have just come directly from many many years storage and still show the dust and dirt from many decades of improper care. In good working order these are a pair of POWER X 6 binoculars, as often used by Officers in the Trenches. These are maker marked by ROSS of LONDON on the left barrel base plate, and have the date coded 1916 (Loops like NP16). They have covered in at least four large inlaid Broad Arrow markings, as well as two in paint on the barrels. The Right Barrel is marked on the base plate:
(Broad Arrow)
GRATICULES
STEREO PRISM BINOCULAR
POWER = 6
There is an A.M. marking for AIR MINISTRY on the front of the binoculars, so it is reasonable to conclude these were issued to the THE ROYAL FLYING CORPS. The binoculars are of brass construction with black finish over and body leather covering still intact. These come complete with their original leather neck strap.
A nice sleepy set over 100 years in age, only a bit of cleaning needed before they are ready to display.
