Original Item: Only one available. The Vickers-Berthier was first considered by the British Army at the Light Machine Gun Trial of 1930 in the form we are offering here with a fully ringed barrel. In .303cal this LMG was up against two models of the Danish Madsen, two models of Browning and a ZB 27 (Czech LMG), together with various others.
The Vickers-Berthier was adopted with a “smooth” barrel assembly as a belated interim step, and was used in it’s earliest form somewhat by the Indian Army however all these trials eventually led to the permanent adoption of the Czech design based Bren Gun of WWII fame. “BREN” standing for “BR”(Brno, the Czech Manufacturer) and “EN” (For Enfield in North London).
