Original Item: One of a kind. Just 34″ inches in overall length, but intended for use as an under the arm “swagger” stick, this lovely item is actually crafted from the shot down remains of a World War One Fighter Plane’s propeller. It is made of laminated wood, as propellers were during WWI, and the handle at the top is curved, as was the propeller.
The end of the handle bears a let-in R.F.C. brass button and the shaft has a band, possibly of gold, inscribed with:
Capt. G.T. Porter
2 SQDN.
There is a very tarnished brass ferrule to the tip of the stick. Captain Porter is listed as a R.F.C. PILOT in 1915 but we have not undertaken an further research.
A fine and very fascinating RFC Officer’s Stick, ready to display.
