Original Item: One of a Kind. We received this out of long time storage in our large Optic’s buy of 2017 in England. This is a very nice ALL BRASS four drawer telescope, which features an extending front sun shield and has a shutter on the eyepiece as well. It measures 10 1/2″ closed and opens to 34 1/2″ when fully extended with the sunshield. Appears to be good working order with nice optics. The innermost draw by the eyepiece is marked with ranges of 25 / 30 / 35 / 40.
It is maker marked by the eyepiece:
BROADHURST CLARKSON & Co.
63 FARRINGDON ROAD
LONDON. E. C.
It is also engraved with a decorative panel, where the name of the owner is written:
2nd. Lt. HENRY GLUNN
KING’S SHROP’E LIGHT INF’Y
Of Colonel Wright we unfortunately have found no information, however the King’s Shropshire Light Infantry Regiment is definitely something we know about. It was created in the CHILDER’S Reforms of 1881, and was immediately sent to join the EGYPT Campaign. This was followed by MALTA and then onto the SUDAN in the 1890’s, clearly seeing plenty of action. During WWI various units from the Regiment saw service, all on the Western Front.
