Original Item: Only One Available. This is a very nice example of a Royal Dragoon Trooper’s Cavalry helmet, known as the Pattern of 1847. It consists of a white metal bowl with brass adornments with a chained leather backed chin strap, leather helmet liner and black Horse Hair plume to top. The center of the helmet badge shows the initials V.R. for VICTORIA REGINA. The various attachments and fittings are most elaborate.
This is exactly what the Royal Dragoon wore in the Crimean War against the Russians in the mid 1850’s. After 1860 these helmets were only used for Parade purposes. In very nice condition almost 175 years of age this is absolutely original.
