Original Item. Only One Available. This came to us out of NEPAL together with the Palace Purchase of 2003. It is a very heavy brown leather trunk that attaches to a Cannon’s Caisson to carry Ammunition, tools and whatever else the Gunner’s needed to operate and service their Field Gun. The interior divided into compartments specially designed for various articles. The trunk attached to slats underneath and iron hooks and rings for attachment of various lines to tie down the container.
A scrap of paper is glued, partially to the from hand written in Hindi, there is a large CROWN over V.R. stamp on the front face of the trunk on the lid flap. Dating from the rule of Queen Victoria 1837-1901, clearly it saw service with various artillery engagements throughout the Empire. Measures approximately 22″ x 12″ x 9″, and is very solidly constructed.
Will look great when polished up and put on display. Ready to attach to your Caisson!
