Original Items. One Set Only. From the end of the Victorian era, this is a parade Uniform Set of a 2nd Lieutenant in THE SUFFOLK REGIMENT, formerly known as the “12TH. REGIMENT OF FOOT” that was raised in 1685. This regiment saw service all over the Empire, including India, the West Indies, South Africa and of course in the Napoleonic Wars. The title 12th Regiment was dropped in the 1881 Childers Reforms, thereafter being known as the Suffolk Regiment. It saw service in the Boer War, world War One and World war Two under this name.
The Set consists of:-
-Officer’s Red Tunic with yellow facings with collar badges showing the Three towers regimental device and adorned with correct Regimental brass buttons and Officer’s insignia on the gilt roping epaulettes on each shoulder.
-A pair of Officer’s Coveralls (tapered Cavalry Trousers) with straps and buckles to instep for wearing with knee boots.
-A buff white leather waist belt affixed to an Officer’s Belt Buckle of the Suffolk Regiment.
-The correct Blue cloth spiked officer’s Helmet complete with chinstrap displaying Queen Victoria’s Crown on Helmet plate.
The Set originating in the 1890’s and used until Queen Victoria’s death in 1901 and then in the reign of King Edward the Seventh until 1910. In nice condition throughout, the lining in the helmet somewhat torn.
Over 120 years old and ready to display as one of Great Britain’s oldest Regiments.
