Original Item: Only One Available. The Pattern 1885 cavalry troopers sword is easy to identify as it has a Maltese cross cut out in the steel bowl guard.
The 33-inch single edged blade is marked WILKINSON. The Sword is 38 inches in overall length and has checkered hard leather grip panels. Overall in good used issued condition this comes with an all steel field scabbard with two permanently affixed mounting rings on each side of the throat.
This is the very model P1885 sword carried by the mounted troops at the famous Battle of Omdurman in 1898 in Sudan when Great Britain finally took back the Sudan under Kitchener after the terrible loss of General Gordon at Khartoum in 1885.
This is a used but nice clean example of a model now becoming very hard to find on the collectors market.
