Original British Napoleonic Flintlock New Land Pattern Pistol marked 11th Light Dragoons – Circa 1810 Original Items

Original Item: Only One Available. This is a great example of the regulation British Dragoon Pistol in use after 1810, known as the the NEW LAND Pattern. It includes a “captured” swivel ram rod of all steel, allowing the dragoon cavalry soldiers to reload whilst on horseback without fear of dropping the ram rod.

It comes with a standard 9″ barrel in .65″ caliber pistol smooth bore, with an overall length of 15 1/2 inches. It has all brass mounts of butt cap, trigger guard side plate and nose cap. The lock is marked with a Crown over G.R. and TOWER across the tail. The Walnut wood stock is stamped with various Inspector’s and maker marks together with numbers 01 as a rack number.

The Barrel is engraved XI – L=D, for the 11th Regiment of Light Dragoons and the trigger guard and barrel are both marked E / 3 indicating issue to “E” company, 3rd man.

The pistol is a nice clean and tight example, probably originating from one of the Tower of London’s Sales in the 1970’s via Sotheby’s or Christie’s auction houses in London.

The ELEVENTH LIGHT DRAGOONS are a storied regiment with a long history, and were present at the Battle of Waterloo in 1815, under the command of LT.COL. James Wallace Sleigh. Well worth researching.
