Original Item: One Only. This is a really nice British .65″ Dragoon flintlock pistol made by the famous London Gun Maker, HENRY NOCK. Signed across the rear of the lock plate H.NOCK and bearing the traditional CROWN over G.R. to the lock plate’s center. All brass mounts complete with brass tipped ram rod, the brass trigger guard is engraved A/11, indicating the Company and the Trooper to which this was originally issued. The brass butt cap’s left side engraved :-

which refers to THE FIRST REGIMENT OF LIFE GUARDS, one of Britain foremost Regiments.

Not surprisingly, most Officers in such Regiments were often very wealthy themselves and it was often a practice where they would order and fund their own weapons for the entire Regiment from the top London Gun Smiths.

Two Squadrons of THE FIRST LIFEGUARDS fought at THE BATTLE OF WATERLOO in 1815 against Napoleon Bonaparte, where their Commander Lieutenant Colonel SAMUEL FERRIOR was killed in the action. He continued to lead ELEVEN Charges with his head “laid open from a saber cut”, until finally his body was pierced with a lance.
