The original owner was Born 1836 in Essex England, CHARLES AUGUSTUS GOODFELLOW. As a young Lieutenant in the Bombay Engineers awarded Britain’s highest award for Valor, the Victoria Cross on 6th.October 1859 after an attack on the Fortress of Beyt during the Indian Mutiny of 1857-59; a glorious start to a memorable Military career during the Victorian era. Died with the rank of Lieutenant General in 1915. An extremely scarce original Helmet being that it belonged to one of Britain’s Victoria Cross heroes. Item comes complete with copies of the Official Record describing the award of the British Army’s highest award for Valor.
