Original Item. Only One Available. This is a fantastic condition iron framed flintlock pocket pistol dating to approximately 1804, and marked clearly on the lock plates with KETLAND & CO. and LONDON. This family business started in 1740, eventually folding in 1831, however it had over almost 100 years transacted a tremendous amount of business. The name was well known and various members of the family operated in both London and Birmingham England.
The weapon measures 7 1/4″ in overall length with a screw off 2 1/2″ smooth bored iron cannon barrel, which is simply in fantastic shape, showing very little sign of being fired. The bottom of the barrel has the CROWN / P proof and CROWN / V viewed markings of the London Proof house before 1813.
The frame, action and barrel are bright steel finished, which is still retained with just a bit of staining. The end of the frame is fitted with a slab sided walnut grip in just about perfect display condition. The frizzen spring still retains the bright original “niter” blue indicating that the gun has seen very little use. Mechanically the pistol functions perfectly, with the barrel easily removable.
A great Flintlock pocket pistol for any Gentleman or Military Officer. Ready to display!
