Original Item: Only One Available. With a bore of slightly more than half an inch this little guy surely packed a severe punch back in the day. This is a Walnut stocked side lock flintlock pistol measures just 8″ in overall length, with an octagonal Damascus steel barrel bearing two inlaid silver bands just behind the touch hole. The Lock is marked AVERY & CO. and the barrel is marked 63 BOND ST LONDON, the address of their shop, today known as New Bond St.
The bag shaped wood grip is checkered and the trigger guard, which is decorated with engraving, is iron.The frizzen spring is fitted with a roller and the pan is of the type that they used to claim as “waterproof”. The lock is fitted with a safety behind the hammer. The short barrel is fitted with a bead fore sight and a “V” back sight at the front of the barrel tang. There is a small silver escutcheon behind the barrel tang, unmarked, often used to accommodate the Owner’s Initials.
