Original Item: Only One Available. Often referred to as a New Land Pistol this Dragoon Pistol in .65 bore has a swivel ramrod which, in theory, allowed a Dragoon to reload whilst on horseback without fear of dropping his ramrod.
Brass mounted walnut wood stock with a 10″ barrel, the pistol is almost 16″ overall. The lock is marked with Crown over G.R. and “TOWER” across the tail. The barrel bears British Proof marks and the brass trigger guard is engraved 13 – L.D. referring to the 13th. Regiment of Light Dragoon, also known as Hussars. This regiment was present at the Battle of Waterloo under the command of Lieutenant Colonel Patrick Doherty.
Offered in very nice working order and condition with British store keeper’s or acceptance mark still visible on the top of the walnut grip just behind the barrel tang. A very nice British Martial pistol that very probably saw action at the Battle of Waterloo in 1815.
