Original Item: Only One Available. Made in England by one of the period’s finest gunsmiths, MORTIMER, “GUN MAKER TO THE KING”. This fine Flintlock Light Dragoon pistil is maker marked on both lock and barrel, together with the British East India Company’s “HEART” logo and dated 1802.
The barrel bears the correct LONDON proofs: the CROWN / CP black powder proof and the CROWN / V viewed mark. The lock plate is also proofed with a lock viewer’s mark. The left side of the stock has a WD Mark for the British War Department.
The pistol features all brass mounts and comes complete with the correct brass tipped wooden ramrod. It has a 9″ .65 bore barrel, 15 1/2″ in overall length. In very nice condition, fully operational showing old pit marks scattered on both barrel and lock. The stock is solid, though it has been repaired under the muzzle The lock functions correctly, holding at half cock, and firing at full.
It is very RARE to find a MORTIMER-made East India Co. Dragoon Pistol. In really nice shape and ready to display!
