Original Item: Only One Available. The Traditional Bobby helmet was named after the creator of the British Police Force, SIR ROBERT PEEL, who became Prime Minister under Queen Victoria. This version, known as a “Comb Top”, replaced the earlier “ball top” and “rose top” helmets used in many areas. The pattern features a pronounced ridge on the top of the helmet, which is capped off by a silvered fitting bearing a coat of arms.
The front of the helmet has a lovely Enameled Helmet plate displaying the region’s Coat of Arms: The Prince of Wales’ Feathers. This is surrounded by SOUTH WALES POLICE, which in the Welsh language is HEDDLU DE CYMRU. The plate is topped by a “Queen’s Crown”, for the current reigning monarch, Queen Elizabeth II. Helmet is Size 59 as marked on the faded tag, which also notes that it is a Custodian Helmet, and is rigged with its Riot Gear liner with web chin strap, retaining its Riot Chin “Cup”. The Helmet is not fitted with its everyday patent leather chin strap.
In excellent overall condition and ready to display!
