Original British Brass Framed Flintlock Pocket Pistol by E.D. Nicholson of Cornhill, London – circa 1790 Original Items

Original Item. Only One Available. This is a great condition brass framed flintlock pocket pistol dating to approximately 1790, and marked clearly on the lock plates with Nicholson. and LONDON. E.D. Nicholson of the Cornhill area of London is a known gunsmith, and worked there from 1760 until 1808, definitely a long career in those days!

The weapon measures 6″ in overall length with a screw off 1 1/2″ smooth bored brass cannon barrel. The bottom of the barrel has the CROWN / GP “Gunmakers” proof and CROWN / V viewed markings of the London Proof house. The frame, action and barrel are show a lovely yellowed brass patina, with some oxidation on the left side, which we have left intact to avoid disturbing the patina.

The end of the frame is fitted with a slab sided walnut grip in just about perfect display condition. Inlaid on this is a silver shield shaped escutcheon, still blank, usually for the owner’s initials to prove ownership. Mechanically the pistol functions perfectly, with the barrel easily removable. There is a half-cock safety to the rear of the hammer.

A really cute little flintlock pocket pistol from the Rev. War or just after. Ready to display!
