Original Item: Only One Available. Here we have a very nice British Double Barrel percussion shotgun, in 34 bore, a quite small size used for hunting small game. It is fitted with a 32″ double barrels and measures 48″ in overall length. There is light engraving on both locks which are both marked W. ROBERTS & Co., and there is light engraving on most of the metalwork as well. The barrel rib is very faintly marked WILLIAM ROBERTS & Co. LONDON as well.
The bottoms of both barrels are marked with the bore size of 34, as well as the 1855-1868 style markings from the Birmingham Proof house. They have all three, the CROWN / CROSSED SCEPTERS / B P C, CROWN / CROSSED SCEPTERS / V, and CROWN / BP. The breech plugs are proof marked as well.
The locks both function correctly, holding at half cock and firing at full. Both cap nipples are present, but look to be working life replacements. The wood stock is in very good condition, with no major cracking or damage that we can see. There is some lovely checkering present on the wrist, which is still strong. The right side of the butt stock has a nickel silver cap or patch box, with an iron lid. The original ramrod is unfortunately missing, now replaced with a wooden dowel with a slot in one end.
This is a very nice looking gun, and would look perfect mounted on the wall. Ready to display!
