Original Item: One Only. Adopted in the late 1800s and used continually through the First World War, this is a great example of the British two piece “D” shaped Mess Tin. This tin is in good used condition, with most of the interior plating still intact. The exterior has unfortunately lost almost all of the original plating, and has some surface rust. The tin is marked:

A. Simpson & Son were a press steel manufacturing plant in the hills above Adelaide capital city of the state of South Australia. they also made hoses buggies and press tin parts for such things as cigarette holders, soap dishes and cleaning kits for the Australian Army during WWI.
