Original Item: Only One Available. Often referred to as a New Land Pistol this Dragoon Pistol in .65 bore has a swivel ramrod which allowed a Dragoon to reload whilst on horseback without fear of dropping his ramrod.
Features brass mounted walnut wood stock with a 10″ barrel, the pistol is nearly 16″ in overall length. The lock is marked with Crown over G.R. and TOWER across the tail. The number 78 is impressed in the wood around the trigger guard. The barrel bears British proof marks and engraved across the top:
11 – REGT / DRAGOONS.
The 11th Light Dragoons were present at the Battle of Waterloo and were commanded by Lieutenant Colonel James Wallace Sleigh.
Offered in in great working order and condition, a small slither of wood either deliberately removed or missing behind the barrel tang. A very nice British martial pistol that very probably saw action at the Battle of Waterloo in 1815.
