Original Item: Only One Available. This is very special, a European-made revolver made for the export market, and then retailed in the Ottoman Empire city of Istanbul/Constantinople. The barrel is marked J.NIKITITS. ERBEN. CONSTANTINOPLE on the right side of the barrel, which is the name of the retailer who imported and sold the revolver. The left side of the barrel is marked MARQUE DE FABRIQUE next to a small logo, indicating the original manufacturer in Liége, Belgium.
This massive Montegnegran style revolver is covered in an engraved diamond shaped design with a silver stud at each intersection, including the wood grips. Covered in Maker’s and other markings this was plainly a revolver not only for a large but also important/affluent individual. It bears serial number 265552 on the cylinder and the frame, as well as Patent and trademarks. The rear of the cylinder is marked with the E. / L.G./ * in an oval under a crown, the mark of Liége.
Dating to the latter 19th century about 1875-1885 in splendid condition, complete with the often missing ejector rod, and a functional loading/ejection gate.
