British Imperial Yeomanry Officer Uniform Set: Victorian Era Lancer (one only) Original Items

Original Item: One Only. What a uniform! Just as you would have expected from Douglas Fairbanks Jr, J. Aubry Smith and David Niven in that great 1930’s movie, “The Prisoner of Zenda”. In fact, this stunning set is English, and dates from the very end of the Victorian era and was made obsolete in 1908. This is a Surrey Imperial Yeomanry Officer’s Uniform of the Lancer pattern.

Constructed of “Warm Drab Melton Cloth” with scarlet facings to the Collar, Cuffs and Plastron Front: the cuffs with a single invented bullion chevron indicating Subaltern rank. Complete with silver Collar Badges and Buttons, the latter incorporating the word “Imperial”. The rear of the tunic with scarlet piping and a three pointed flap to each skirt picked out with silver bullion cord. The interior of the tunic retains part of the original silk lining, but shows heavy age wear. The Tunic comes complete with original issue Overalls (Trousers) with double scarlet line to sides. The Shoulder boards and cords are absent. Also included are the military equestrian Jodhpurs together with knee high brown leather boots complete with chained spurs in place.

This entire ensemble is contained in Original Military Storage Trunk, painted with the Regimental devise and colors bearing the maker’s shield of “Hawkes and Company, No.1 Saville Row, London?.

Simply a museum grade highly desirable Lancer’s Tunic with accessories from the age of glory that was cut short by the uprising of the First World War.
