Original Item: Only One Available. This is a a totally honest example of a Belgian Made Single Barrel Sporting Gun, designed mainly for fowling to be used with bird shot. Dating from around 1835, these were very popular around the world. It was produced in the Belgian City of Liège, where gun making was a key industry, and would end up supplying Military Weapons all over Europe after Belgian Independence in 1830.
The gun features a nice walnut stock, a barrel of 36″, with the rear 12″ octagonal turning to round for the forward 24″. It is fitted with German silver mounts, an un-signed back action lock, and comes complete with ram rod. The top of the barrel is faintly marked with the the standard E / L G / * in an oval, indicating Liège production.
From the attic collection of over 200 pieces we acquired recently, which was in storage for almost 100 years. Ready to display!
