Original Item: Only One Available. The Australian leather infantry equipment is commonly referred to as Pattern 1915, and it was made to meet the demands of the growing army in 1914 and 1915. This Australian made leather equipment was almost a direct copy of the very successful British infantry web equipment of the 1908 pattern. This haversack was made to be worn hanging from a single 2″ leather strap, and intended to be worn by mounted soldiers, like the Australian Light Horse mounted infantry as well as the Artillery, ASC, or any other soldier who was not dismounted.
The haversack itself is in wonderful condition and appears to even have faint service numbers present, making for a wonderful research opportunity! THese were used up into WWII, so it would not be uncommon that if the soldier who the number corresponds to served in WWII, do not fret as this was common. There are faint markings with what appears to be a 1916 date as well as a solid broad arrow stamp.
There is no significant damage present aside from the expected staining.
Comes more than ready for further research and display.
