Original Item: Only One Available. A fantastic genuine WWII example of an Australian or New Zealand made commando aluminum handle fighting knuckle knife with original leather scabbard. This style knife is a hard to find rare version. A nearly identical knife is featured in the book FIGHTING KNIVES by Frederick Stephens on page 53 as well as on the front and back cover.
This knife is also mentioned in The Best of US Military Knives: Bayonets & Machetes by M.H Cole on page 179 as a “Type 2”, which was used to some extent by the U.S. Marine Corps. The scabbard for this example is not the type usually used by ANZAC forces, and is definitely a U.S. Style, so we believe this example was a USMC Private Purchase.
These were made by three different manufacturers, with TUI being one of them. We have not been able to find out much more about this maker. It has been suggested that there was only one maker, and that the markings are just from the distributors.
Features:
• Cast aluminum checkered grip with well retained paint.
• Skull crusher grip pommel.
• Thin blade in very good condition, maker marked TUI / REGD.
• Heavy duty U.S. Style leather sheath in very good condition with moderate overall wear. All rivets intact, though some of the stitching has pulled. Securing strap is functional.
A wonderful example of a classic commonwealth fighting knife rarely encountered on today’s collector market, most likely issued to U.S. Forces. Check local legal restrictions on metal knuckles before ordering.
