Original Item: Only One available. This is truly a magnificent weapon, a real work of art! It is a “Double tonged” sword with downward sloping blade of about 17 inches, showing lovely grain and laminations in the “WOOTZ” Damascus steel. The shape is very reminiscent of the Bichuwa Dagger, but in a much longer form, as the short sword is 23 inches long. The blade has very fine gold inlay work on both blade and hilt. The pommel of the Short Sword displays a gold decorated Peacock’s Head, for the “Peacock Throne” the Mughal emperors of India sat on. The handle has two lovely wood grip scales on the sides.
The double tongues rejoin at the tip of the blade, giving a very pleasing effect, and adding strength to the tip. In lovely condition this looks to be 18th century but we rather suspect it dates from more like the end of the 19th century to be in this magnificent condition.
A most unusual fighting sword fabulously gold inlaid, ready to display!
