Original Item: Only One Available. Pistols of this type were commonly found being used by the Ottoman “Barbary Pirates”, and they are extremely attractive and just great decoration. The barrel is 12 1/2″, with an overall length of 20″, making this pistol most imposing. The lovely quality brass butt plate is heavily decorated, possibly of European origin.
It features a faux ramrod, broken at front, under the barrel, which is to be expected as the Ottomans carried ramrods on a cord around their necks. The Barbary Pirates became a real problem in the early 1800’s and it needed the new Nation of the United States to send a force to settle the problems in the 1820s.
Lovely to look at and ready to Display.
