Original Item: Only One Available. This is a very interesting short sword or large dagger from the Dutch East Indies dating back possibly 200 years. A from of “Kris” this was known as a Piso-Pendang and has a 20″ Damascus type blade decorated on both sides with carved sea serpents and East Indian script all picked out in gold. The hilt and the entire scabbard covered in heavily embossed and hand worked silver. The hilt displays a grotesque mask and elephant among lush foliage, probably brought into the west be a Dutch Colonial administrator during the1850s or 1860s.
Overall length when mounted in the scabbard 27″. Most impressive!
