Original Item: Only One Available. Dating from about 1800 this is a flintlock blunderbuss pistol or “Hand Blunderbuss”, with the form of a shoulder fired weapon, but intended to be held in one hand. This example comes from the Ottoman Empire that was based in Constantinople in Turkey but spread throughout the Islamic world of that time. Its overall length is 30″, the barrel itself measuring 18″, showing remains of Silver inlays overall.
The barrel and lock are enhanced with dull Silver decorations and the lock stamped with fairly clear Ottoman Arsenal Mark in Arabic. The lock functions well, holding at half cock and firing at full, though it is quite stiff. All brass mounted including the typical imitation short faux ramrod, the ram rod carried traditionally on a cord around the Camel driver’s neck.
A handsome example of this very long Ottoman style Flintlock Hand Blunderbuss, fully cleaned and ready to display!
