Wonderful Hessian musket with 39 round .75 caliber barrel, bayonet lug on bottom of muzzle with elongated oval and German silver front sight. Mounted in a 1-pc walnut stock with low comb and all brass furniture. It has four brass guides that contain a trumpet head ramrod. The very long (12.5) trigger guard has a sling swivel with a corresponding swivel in forestock. It has an unmarked brass escutcheon with a smooth brass butt plate.
A fine Germanic Revolutionary War Musket which could have seen service on either side. Overall length 54.5. Please see “Battle Weapons of the American Revolution” by George C. Neumann for many similar examples of Hessian Muskets.
