– Civilian War Merit Cross 1st Class: This is a lovely 1st class award without swords given to civilians for meritorious service in “furtherance of the war effort”. Little of the original silver wash is present.
– 2nd Pattern National Socialist Women’s Organization Orts Level Membership Badge: The “National Socialist Frauenschaft” (National Socialist Women’s-organization) was formed by absorbing the earlier “Deutsches Frauenwerk” (German Women’s-welfare-organization), and the “Deutscher Frauenorden” (German Women’s-order), into a single national organization. The first pattern Frauenschaft member’s badge followed the design of the earlier “Deutscher Frauenorden” badge as introduced in the mid-1920s, with minor variations. In 1938 the first pattern badge was replaced with a modified second pattern member’s badge, which followed the design of the earlier “Deutsches Frauenwerk” badge. The alloy badge takes the form of a 30mm tall inverted triangle with a 29mm wide top edge. It features a black enamel central field, edged in blue enamel and silver, upon which is a silver national eagle above a silver “Leben-rune” (Life-rune).The badge features the silver Gothic script “NS.- Frauenschaft.” To the reverse, to either side of its crimped and soldered vertical pin-back device, is an embossed RZM logo and ‘M1/34′ for Karl Wurster, Markneukirchen. The blue border represents the ‘Orts’ (District) group level.
– 3rd Pattern RADwJ Arbeitsmaid Rank Badge: The female version of the male RAD, “Reichsarbeitsdienst” (National-labor-service), was originally established in February of 1933, and was considered a sub-section of the “National Sozialistisches Frauenschaft” (National Socialist Women’s’-organization). In April of 1936 the female labor service was dissociated with the NS Frauenschaft, and was given the official designation RADwJ, “Reichsarbeitsdienst der weiblichen Jugend” (National-labor-service for female Youth). The RADwJ was originally a voluntary organization, in spite of regulations of June, 1935, that dictated a six month mandatory service period. Actual conscription of RADwJ personnel began in August of 1936, but it wasn’t until September of 1939 that the mandatory six months service was enforced. Prior to its separation from the NS Frauenschaft, a series of rank brooches had been introduced and were worn until August of 1937, when a new series of rank brooches were introduced. The second pattern (1937) rank brooches were utilized until a third and final pattern was introduced in October of 1939.
– Pre-WWII French Commemorative Pin: This pin is for the 50th anniversary of the J. Ferry – P. Bert Secular School.
