Original Item: Only One Available. This is a very nice genuine steel construction M34 Civic “Square Dip” Third Reich helmet, outfitted for German WW2 Schutzpolizei (Protection Police) issue. It features genuine double decals of Civic Police Reichsadler (National Eagle) and NSDAP swas. These helmets were used by both the regular protection police, as well as the fire protection police. This example has the holes the mounting of the aluminum comb, but we see no evidence that one was ever installed.
The helmet comes with a complete leather liner attached with cork spacers, with all four attachment pins/rivets present. The size 57 marked leather liner is in very good shape, with the correct 9 fingers and ventilated brow area, though the original top tie is missing. Also, the rubber under padding is very deteriorated, and has already crumbled into a lot of pieces, which fall out of the helmet whenever it is turned over. The liner still has all 5 original tabs for attachment of a leather neck skirt, and the chinstrap is fully intact, however one end has detached from the liner band due to the stitching rotting out.
The exterior of this German helmet retains almost all of the original black paint, with some small chips and scratches, and overall wear and speckling. The NSDAP and civic eagle decals are both very well retained, with overall wear and yellowing due to age. They still have a lovely look consistent with the age of this helmet. The inside of the rear skirt has a faint “Lion” Logo over D.R.P. / THALE next to a large A, indicating production by the Eisenhüttenwerke, Thale factory.
Overall a great opportunity to get a very nice of a German WWII Civic Police helmet. Ready to display!
