Original Item: Only One Available. This is an excellent condition genuine steel construction M34 Civic “Square Dip” Third Reich helmet, outfitted for German WW2 Schutzpolizei (Protection Police) issue. It features genuine double decals of Civic Police Reichsadler (National Eagle) and NSDAP swas (hook cross). These helmets were used by both the regular protection police, as well as the fire protection police. This example does not have any mounting holes for a comb.
The helmet comes with a leather liner attached with cork spacers, with all four attachment pins/rivets present. The leather liner is in great shape, with the size 57 clearly stamped, and an intact top tie string. The leather top pad is present, and still firmly attached to the top of the helmet. Under the leather is rubber padding covered with oil cloth, which is still somewhat soft, a real rarity, as usually the rubber is falling apart. The liner still has all 5 original tabs for attachment of a leather neck skirt, and the pebbled leather chin strap is present, and in very good condition.
The exterior of this German helmet retains much of the original black paint, with light scuffing and wear. The NSDAP and civic eagle decals are both still intact, and in great shape, though the NSDAP decal has a bit of a “ripple” at the bottom where the decal bunched up during application. They have a lovely yellowed color now, only possible due to the age of the helmet. The inside of the rear skirt has a partial “Lion” Logo over D.R.P. / THALE next to a large A, indicating production by the Eisenhüttenwerke, Thale factory.
Overall a great opportunity to get an excellent example of a German WWII Civic Police helmet. Ready to display!
