Original Item: Only one pair available. These gloves are a spectacular find! This is a Genuine unissued pair of German WWII Luftwaffe “Long Pattern” Gauntlet-type Flight gloves, made of very nice brown leather. They have the typical gauntlet style wrist protection made of thicker and more durable leather. They each have two belted sliding snap buckle size adjustments, one around the wrist and one around the forearm. This would help keep air infiltration to a minimum.
These very nice gloves are in size 8, and are a matching pair from the same manufacturer, Friedrich Dorner, whose address label is ink stamped under the size inside the cuff of each glove. Below the address is also the date of Juni 1939, indicating that these are very early war production!
Additionally, each glove is marked L.B.A. (S) 39, which stands for Luftwaffebekleidungsamt, or German Air Force Clothing Office, 1939. This type of marking is typically only seen on the early war examples of Luftwaffe items. Even better, the inside of each glove is ink stamped with Fl. Gru. 24, for Flieger Gruppe 24 (Flight Group 24). These gloves have excellent research potential, in addition to being in prime condition.
Overall condition is excellent, with all brass snaps functional, and just a bit of storage wear and verdigris. This is the first set of these we have had, and they are definitely a great example.
A very nice set of hard to find gloves, in excellent condition, ready to display!
