New Made Item: This are our normal high quality pickelhauben, but this shipment was exposed to moisture in transit and the Brass finish has become spotted, corroded and closure to copper in color. The leather needs a good polish while the chin strap and rosettes are of lesser quality than normal. However, these appear closer to genuine pickelhaubes because they look like really are over 100 years old!
The Pickelhaube (plural Pickelhauben; from the old German Pickel = “point” or “pickaxe”, and Haube = “bonnet”, a general word for headgear), also “Pickelhelm,” was a spiked helmet worn in the 19th and 20th centuries by German military, firefighters, and police. Although typically associated with the Prussian army, the helmet enjoyed wide use among uniformed occupations in the Western world.
Our reproduction was manufactured exclusively for IMA. This stunning Imperial German Prussian Pickelhaube helmet is handcrafted of genuine leather with authentic brass hardware (now stained, corroded), featuring brass constructed; Prussian eagle helmet plate (stained and corroded) , chinstrap clutches (stained and corroded, lesser quality), peakmount (stained and corroded, lesser quality), removable spike(stained and corroded), and a soft leather liner (requires cleaning). Copied exclusively from an IMA original sample making it easily the very best reproduction on the market today but it is offered in Grade two Antiqued condition.
Adjustable liner, one size fits most, fits US 7 (56 cm)- US 7 ¾ (62 cm).
