Original Item: Very Few Available. Genuine German WWII Luftwaffe marked beer / wine bottle offered in very good condition with the original porcelain top and swing top wire bale. Typically clear glass was used for beer, while green or brown glass would have been for wine, but this was not a hard and fast rule. The white porcelain stoppers are nicely marked on top with EIGENTUM der LUFTWAFFE, or Property of the Luftwaffe. There are also faint makers and lot markings on the bottoms, making these an interesting research opportunity. Measures approximately 9 3/4 inches tall, and 2 5/8 inches wide.
The bottles still retain the rubber seals under the porcelain cap, which have shrunken, however still somewhat soft. The hinged cage closures are somewhat oxidized, but still functional, and the top stoppers can still be opened.
These are seldom encountered and would look great with a German WWII display.
Apparently many of these were found in a French Rubbish dump 70 years after the close of WWII. A hard to find yet affordable collectible from the Third Reich.
