Original Item: Only One Available. The famous LKpN101 Netzkopfhaube (Mesh Hood) net-top helmet proved very popular with Luftwaffe pilots, as it was designed for comfort and without the restriction of a chinstrap. This classic mesh flying helmet which has become synonymous with Luftwaffe fighter pilots in WWII. This example does have some faded maker stamps on the interior rear, but they are unfortunately illegible.
The size tag is is marked 58 (7 1/4 US) on the front and 57 (7 1/8) on the rear. The helmet is in used but very good condition with netting, all straps and snaps in functional condition. This example features black leather receiver cups and has two leather double clip straps, which were used to attach to goggles and sometimes an oxygen mask.
The helmet has complete avionics, with a throat microphone and earphones installed, and has the standard longer attachment cord with a 4 pole connector. There are not any markings that we can see on the bakelite components or the aluminum connector.
Condition is overall quite good, though the leather and chamois areas have degraded, especially on the interior of the helmet. The forehead lining has almost completely flaked away, and the exterior leather finish on various components is worn, as shown.
Overall a wonderful honest Luftwaffe fighter pilot helmet offered in very good complete condition. Ready to display!
